Highslide JS

Within the context of the  '' 81 Academic Advisors to 81 Cities'' Project  conducted by TOBB / TEPAV, a different example of University-Sectors cooperation was exhibited in Mardin.  To that end,  Mardin Pronicial/District Chambers/Stock Exchanges made a cooperation with Mardin Artuklu University (MAU) on publication.

Within the framework of cooperation, The work titled ''Regional Development Oriented University Model; Mardin Artuklu (MAÜ) Example Art''  was published by the MAU publicatios with the financial support of Kýzýltepe Commodity Exchange, Kýzýltepe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mardin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nusaybin Commodity Exchange and Nusaybin Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The study prepared by OBB / TEPAV, Mardin Provincial / District Chambers Academic Advisor, Faculty Member of Mardin Artuklu University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department of Economics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dr. Mehmet Behzat Ekinci contains information about Mardin Artuklu University's development-oriented partnerships with the city and region.

The work includes the activities of Ekinci with the TOBB / TEPAV and Mardin Provincial Chambers / Exchanges and the economic institutions to which he is an academic advisor on behalf of MAU. Also, the content of the work was enriched by including the similar activities conducted by by many academicians of MAU.

In a report published by the World Bank (The Challenge of Establishing World Class Universities) the work which was prepared with reference to the proposal “It is more favourable for the universities of developing countries (GOU) to use their resources, knowledge and know-how to the development of the regions where they are located rather than aiming to become a global university with high amount of budget allocations'' focuses mainly on the idea that the universities in each country will be able to contribute to regional development through establisihing ties with existing agriculture, industry and service sectors

In the work, It is stated that it is possible for a university to become a 'regional development oriented institution' which is indicated by the World Bank report with its activities in the following six headings according to the degree of interest of a university with other Universities, Chambers / Commodity Exchanges, Public Institutions, Development Institutions, Sectoral Institutions and Professional Institutions. 1) Training Programs-Presentations; 2) Information Support; 3) Field Studies-Researches; 4) Statistics-Economic Panoramas; 5) Projects; 6) Socio-Cultural Activities.

From this perspective, within the framework of the reference to the World Bank report, as a developing(GOÜ) , even as a young university moreover MAÜ, which is organized as a university of social sciences within the context of aforementioned activities is trying to put its human resources and know-how into the service of the development of the city  it is located in and its surroundings through concrete activities.

In this work prepared specific to MAU, Ekinci reveals that despite some deficiencies, the activities carried out under six headings as a whole have achieved the quality of  'model implementation'.       In this context, Ekinci stated that all the activities carried out by MAU in the period of 2014-2019 can be implemented by other institutions as well and  that  ''every university can design and implement these practices pertinent to its own structure'' .

Ekinci who summarized the main objective of preparing this work as ''To introduce the Regional Development Oriented University Model and expanding the field of application and making it possible to be implemented by the interested parties and institutions'' stated that  the ultimate goal is '' to raise the level of contribution of individuals / institutions to regional development through the implementation of the model in different versions''.
